European & Mediterranean Horseracing Federation Appoints Secretary-General
 
 



The European & Mediterranean Horseracing Federation (E.M.H.F.) has announced the appointment of Paull Khan as its Secretary-General. Dr Khan will continue to work as Director of Racing at Weatherbys, who are releasing him to work for the EMHF on a one-day-per-week basis.

Brian Kavanagh, Chairman of E.M.H.F. and Chief Executive of Horse Racing Ireland said: “I am delighted to have been able to secure the services of someone with Paull's expertise and experience and look forward to working with him in enhancing the work of the E.M.H.F.”.

Paull Khan said: “I am greatly looking forward to playing my part in developing the profile and cohesion of racing throughout the European & Mediterranean region. There is great enthusiasm for the Federation, not least from its many member countries in which horseracing is a developing sport”

The main objective of the EMHF is to develop relations among European and Mediterranean Horseracing Authorities, to coordinate promotion of horseracing in Europe and in Mediterranean countries, to defend its integrity and prestige throughout the world and to represent Europe and Mediterranean countries before the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (I.F.H.A.).

Founded in 2010, its Chair is Brian Kavanagh, Chief Executive of Horse Racing Ireland with Bjorn Eklund of Sweden as Vice Chairman.

Current membership numbers 22 countries, as follows: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lebanon, Lithuania, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey.

Paull Khan will continue to represent the British Horseracing Authority on the I.F.H.A.’s Technical Advisory Committee.
